Formerly Expelled State Representative Holding Town Halls on Gun Control Ahead of Special Session

A State Representative who was expelled from the General Assembly for his role in a gun control riot at the Capitol Building in Nashville will host town halls in Memphis to discuss the same topic with his constituents ahead of August’s special session of the General Assembly.

State Rep. Justin Pearson (D-Memphis) was expelled from the General Assembly in April alongside colleague State Rep. Justin Jones (D-Nashville). Both men led a protest-turned-riot at the State Capitol in March, just after the mass shooting at The Covenant School in Nashville.

During the riot, the elected officials encouraged a crowd of more than a thousand protesters to breach the Tennessee House of Representatives chamber floor, where legislators’ offices are located. Their plan was foiled by Tennessee State Troopers, who barricaded the chamber, stopping rioters from entering.

Jones was later reappointed to his position on an interim basis by the Shelby County Commission. He will have to win reelection on August 8.

The expulsion was used as a press opportunity for Pearson and Jones.

“A movement is rising,” said Pearson to a crowd of supporters and television cameras after the reappointment proceedings. “A movement is rising. They tried to kill democracy They tried to expel the people’s choice and the people’s vote. And they awakened a sleeping giant.”

“They put Gloria Johnson and Justin Jones and me on trial, but they ended up putting themselves on trial,” he said. “And the people’s verdict is back. Guilty!”

Yes, Every Kid

Now, Pearson will hold town halls in Memphis to address gun legislation plans with his constituents, according to local reports.

Two town halls are scheduled for Tuesday, one at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church at noon and the other at Friendship United Methodist Church at 6pm CT.

While the political left demands gun control, Gov. Bill Lee (R) appears ready to cave to some of their demands.

Lee’s largest ask is for red flag legislation, which has led to alliances with left-wing groups.

Republicans, who dominate both chambers of the General Assembly, have said that they will not work with Lee to implement red flag laws.

“Any red flag law is a non-starter for House Republicans,” the House majority party has said. “Our caucus is focused on finding solutions that prevent dangerous individuals from harming the public and preserve the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens. We have always been open to working with Governor Lee on measures that fit within that framework.”

Governor Bill Lee has said he will call for a special session of the Tennessee General Assembly in mid-August in order to address public safety.

This representative is truly a “one string banjo” offering literally no representation for the citizens of his district. They voted him in twice, the folly is that voting block. This man has done nothing in office. Gun control, following a senseless shooting, gave him his 15 minutes of fame. It allowed him audience with Oprah and Kamala which further inflated his self perception. Take a look at the newspapers covering Los Angeles,, San Francisco, San Diego and the cities in between. Look at what happened, look at the crime, the violence, the rampant drug abuse, note the disempowered police forces, further objectively review the fleeing from California of the middle class as well as businesses. I say this because the representatives Pearson and Jones are carbon copies of the democrat representatives in those troubled California cities. Don’t let these clowns, these one string banjos, turn any part of Tennessee into California.

Please don’t allow these communists turn Tennessee into CA. I unfortunately, live in CA & the corruption is so deep that even when we vote to recall Newsom or don’t even elect him in the first place he gets installed by cheating! Keep your legislators’ as strong conservatives to help keep Lee in check. He can be a bit weak on some issues.

Isn’t it amazing how a person can win an election and overnight night come up with a plan that will save the life of more people than Jesus Christ,
but without the “Intelligence” to recognize their own ignorance.

“The powers not enumerated to the government are “RESERVED” to the States or the People”. Tenth AMENDMENT

The first thing you have to ask before creating a law is,
“was the government enumerated power to create such a law”.

And since the “Bill of Rights” was excluded by Madison, and is not listed among their enumerations, the obvious answer is “NO”.

Government’s powers are “LIMITED” to the enumerations, and “NOTHING ELSE”.
“Implied Powers” only applies where enumerated power was given.

Nor only that but “Expressly Stipulated Rights” in that Constitution (Bill of Right) can not “DENIED”, like it or not, the language of the document “MUST BE HONORED”, or it’s a violation of the established principles on which law is based, Labor contract or Constitution, the law is the same.

Contracts or Constitution, can not in one part allow something another part would prohibit,

Implied Powers would allow the government to do things that would violate the stipulated rights, but without authority of enumerated powers, implied power has no authority.

“When rights secured by the Constitution are involved, there can be no rule making or legislation which would abrogate them.
    [Miranda v. Arizona, 384 US 436, 491.] Supreme Court.

Madison referred to both Enumerated powers and Stipulated Rights as being a “DOUBLE SECURITY” for our Rights/Freedoms.

“If they are incorporated into the Constitution, independent tribunals of justice will consider themselves in a peculiar manner the guardians of those rights; they will be an impenetrable bulwark against every assumption of power in the legislative or executive; they will be naturally led to resist every encroachment upon rights expressly stipulated for in the Constitution by the declaration of rights”.

“I know in some of the state constitutions the power of the government is controlled by such a declaration, but others are not. I cannot see any reason against obtaining even a….”DOUBLE SECURITY”…. on those points; and nothing can give a more sincere proof of the attachment of those who opposed this constitution to these great and important rights, than to see them join in obtaining the security I have now proposed; because it must be admitted, on all hands, that the state governments are as liable to attack these invaluable privileges as the general government is, and therefore ought to be as cautiously guarded against”.

All firearm laws going back to the 1934 Firearms Act, all Red Flag Laws, all restriction on “Possession of a fire arm, all denial to purchase/own a firearm, Registering Fire arms,

“ALL” of these laws “DENIES/DEFIES” the ability of “LAW” to guarantee Stipulated Rights, and protection from “UN-Enumerated Powers”, and

The “Principles” on which law is based, interpreted and applied by the Supreme Court are being ignored by State/Federal government as if they didn’t exit.

AND SINCE THE COURTS ARE NOT UPHOLDING THE CONSTITUTION AGAINST THE STATE/FEDERAL GOVERNMENTS.

RIGHT HERE APPEARS TO BE OUR ONLY SOLUTION TO GOVERNOR LEE’S “RED FLAG LAW” AND BIDEN ATTACKS.

    Madison, Federalist paper no. 46
    Here’s a short exert:
“Extravagant as the supposition is, let it however be made. Let a regular army, fully equal to the resources of the country, be formed; and let it be entirely at the devotion of the federal government; still it would not be going too far to say, that the State governments, with the people on their side, would be able to repel the danger.

Besides the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation, the existence of subordinate governments, to which the people are attached, and by which the militia officers are appointed, forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition, more insurmountable than any which a simple government of any form can admit of”.

Alexander Hamilton in Federalist paper No. 29 also wrote,
“if circumstances should at any time oblige the government to form an army of any magnitude that army can never be formidable to the liberties of the people while there is a large body of citizens, little, if at all, inferior to them in discipline and the use of arms, who stand ready to defend their own rights and those of their fellow-citizens. This appears to me the only substitute that can be devised for a standing army, and the best possible security against it, if it should exist.”

Armed Citizens able to repeal any attack on their Country or Constitution by Foreign or ‘DOMESTIC” enemies is the “Central Component” of the Second Amendment,

    not “individual self defense”.

WE DON’T HAVE A “RIGHT”, WE HAVE A “DUTY” TO PROTECT THESE RIGHTS/FREEDOMS, NOT ONLY FOR OURSELVES BUT ALSO FOR OUR “CHILDREN”.

Ever swore an oath to uphold the “Constitution”,

Are you going to keep it???

The old man didn’t comply with the new communist gun laws of Canada. He remembered life at the edge of the northern wilderness where a man protected his family immersed in a harsh struggle for survival. He thought they would still respect his rights to be a man, but they came and took his guns.

They took those I had stored there for decades, also. The Canadian police chose to destroyed them rather than allow me to return them to the US. At this point I plan to die a free man.

The only thing the legislature can do to stop gun crime is to make anyone using a gun to commit any type of crime to face a separate mandatory 10 to 20 year sentence for a first offense.

These are neo-Bolsheviks doing as they did and still do to impose tyranny.

“In order to overthrow a nation its people must first be disarmed”

All hiding behind “church” just like Covenant blocking the release of the manifesto and pushing to remove your constitutional rights to self protection and preservation. Mix that with Bill Lee surrendered hiding behind his faith and it’s getting very difficult to respect or take serious many so-called Christians in this state.

  8. Joe Blow

He and Justin Jones should move to California where their radical ideas, especially on guns, would be appreciated.

He is nothing but a “community organizer” in the image of Obama.

  9. Steve Allen

There always seems to be a parallel between a district and the person who represents it. Memphis, while I would love to visit for the music and music history I would fear for my life as in most cases democratic controlled cities are crime infested and overflowing with violence. In which case the liberals use their urban violence pandemic as their reason for gun control, while in reality the total disarmament of law abiding Americans is the real plan. If you are a person who enjoys shooting sports and doesn’t believe what I’m saying, you better broaden your scope before it’s too late.
